Tension Drive
This is the smaller geared motor in the spiral system also known as a auxiliary gearbox unit, take up drive or tension drive. It adds tension to counter the Drum Drive Unit to enabling the Spiral Conveyor Belt to be kept taut, eliminating belt surging / belt bunching or conversely, ensuring the belt doesn’t snap or “X-mas tree” if too much tension is added. This is a vital part of the machine and it’s imperative to keep at least 1 Tension Drive Unit in stores in case of a breakdown, its a long lead time item meaning any breakdown will cause production quotas not to be met for the entire duration of manufacture and delivery of the part.
Tension Drive Units are specified bespoke to suit each machine, and are low temperature coated for spiral freezer applications to ensure they operate efficiently in sub zero temperatures for a longer period comparatively.
