Drum Drive
AKA planetary drive or main drive or main gearbox unit.
Drives the drum around and therefore the spiral belt without this the spiral would be static.
Gearbox and motor supplied with low temperature coating ( coating needed for freezer not a chiller or cooler).
On double drum machines they will have 2 of these, 1 for each drum.
Machine will not run without this.

Drum Drive
This is the main geared motor in the spiral system also known as a main gearbox unit, main drive unit or planetary drive unit. It drives the drum which in turn drives the Spiral Conveyor Belt with a Tension Drive Unit countering the driving motion of Drum Drive Unit to keep the Spiral Conveyor Belt taut, in a single drum friction driven system, we also supply gearboxes for Direct Drive Systems, where the Spiral Conveyor Belt is driven by the teeth in the drum which engage with the teeth on the edge of the spiral belt. This is a vital part of the machine, even more so for a double drum spiral system as there are 2 gearboxes – either one failing brings production to a standstill, and it’s imperative to keep at least 1 Drum Drive Unit in stores in case of a breakdown, its a long lead time item meaning any breakdown will cause production quotas not to be met for the entire duration of manufacture and delivery of the part.
Drum Drive Units are specified bespoke to suit each machine, and are low temperature coated for spiral freezer applications to ensure they operate efficiently in sub zero temperatures for a longer period comparatively.
